When You Spot… Report!

Take Action and Save a Child

Learn to spot signs of child trafficking on The Agape Foundation Education page. Be vigilant! Each situation requires a measured response. When you witness a concerning situation or behavior, use the Action Hotline, supported by the Agape Foundation to report suspected abuse. Become a vigilant Agape Guardian and take the following steps to stop Child Trafficking in its tracks.

WATCH!

Be aware of your surrounds and the people and behaviors within them. Whether you are driving, in an elevator or a store, become aware of the signs:

• Child in the company of an adult who does not seems to be a friend or family member
• Watch for children trying to signal or communicate with you to indicate a problem. One popular signal, also known as the TikTok method, includes a potential victim gesturing with their thumb in and their four fingers wrapped around it. And you release tuck your thumb, release and repeat.

LISTEN!

Use your ears and your eyes! Listening for the gruff voice of an non-familial adult paired
with the frightened tone of a child can spell trouble. Here are a few behaviors to list for:

• Avoids conversation and/or Numerous inconsistencies in their stories
• Children aren’t allowed to speak for themselves, or seem to have rehearsed or scripted lines
• Child displays anxiety, depression, aggression. Rarely smiles. Avoids eye contact
• Kids on the street late at night, during school hours, or at odd times
• Provocative language and behaviors

If you witness a situation that causes you concern, NO DO ENGAGE but rather discretely call for help. If you are experiencing a family friend, whether old or new that has taken an unnatural interest in your child, mentioning that you have been learning about child abuse can help deter an individual from a potential grooming process.

Be vigilant…Each one of us can make a difference. By shining a light on Child Trafficking and those who would perpetrate these heinous crimes, we can save a life. Hope and and awareness are powerful actions.
